K-12 Grant Opportunities

There are a variety of grant opportunities supporting the use of technology in education for K-12 teachers and students. Below are some resources that teachers may find valuable as they pursue funding resources for technology in their classrooms.
 

Art/Music

Airborne Teacher Trust Fund
This fund supports art and music programs in elementary and middle schools that are at risk of being cut due to budgetary limitations.

Guitar Center Music Foundation
This foundation provides funding and resources for music programs across America so that kids will have an opportunity to experience the joys of music. Awards are given to in-school music classes, after school music programs, and music therapy programs

Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation
This foundation donates instruments to music programs where students have access to a music curriculum but lack the resources and support base to adequately keep up with equipment loss due to attrition, depreciation and wear over time.

P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education
Grants are awarded to teachers who consistently integrate the arts into their teaching of children with learning disabilities and other special needs.

English Language Arts

National Council of Teachers of English
NCTE provides an overview of funding sources available to English teachers offered by educational institutions, foundations, and corporations. Grant writing tips are also provided.

Verizon Foundation Grants Program (Literacy)
This program seeks proposals that will advance student achievement in literacy through innovative technology while also increasing educator effectiveness.

International Reading Association
IRA has created a list of grants and awards of interest for literacy educators.

History/Social Studies

American Immigration Council
AIC funds K-12 grade level projects that provide education about immigrants and immigration. The council is interested in activities that are innovative and support AILF’s mission of promoting the benefits of immigrants to the United States.

Mathematics

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
NCTM and the Mathematics Education Trust offer a variety of grants and awards to support classroom teachers in the areas of improving classroom practices and increasing teachers’ mathematical knowledge.

Toshiba America Foundation
The foundation supports innovative projects designed by math and science teachers to improve mathematics and science education for students in grades K-12. Proposed projects must advance the teacher’s math and science teaching, take place over at least three class sessions, and occur during the school day, among other requirements.

Science

Toshiba America Foundation
The foundation supports innovative projects designed by math and science teachers to improve mathematics and science education for students in grades K-12. Proposed projects must advance the teacher’s math and science teaching, take place over at least three class sessions, and occur during the school day, among other requirements.

Toyota TAPESTRY Grant
Grant proposals must describe a project including its potential impact on students relating to one of three areas: 1) Environmental Science Education, 2) Physical Science Applications, or 3) Literacy and Science Education. All middle and high school science teachers and elementary teachers who teach some science in the classroom are eligible to apply.

Vernier and NSTA Technology Award
This award recognizes the innovative use of data collection technology using a computer, graphing calculator, or handheld in the science classroom. K-12 educators nominated for this award must have at least three years teaching experience.

Special Education

Grants are awarded to teachers who consistently integrate the arts into their teaching of children with learning disabilities and other special needs.

Technology Grants

Digital Wish
Tool Factory and Olympus launched Digital Wish to help educators locate funding for technology. Teachers publicly post a technology wish list so that donors can make a contribution to their classrooms. Teachers can also submit technology-based lesson plans for awards granted every month.
